Regional Conference on Migration
The Regional Conference on Migration is an intergovernmental gathering at the vice-ministerial level among 11 countries: Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the United States. Five more countries participate as observers: Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Jamaica and Peru. Their goal is to exchange experiences and information on migration in the region of North and Central America.
Virtual Secretariat of the Regional Conference on Migration. Starting with partir de la V Conferencia Regional, la Conferencia cuenta con un "Secretariado Virtual" por Internet que incluye un área pública en la que se puede consultar amplia información sobre las reuniones de la Conferencia, seminarios que organiza, etc.
Plan of Action. The member countries of the Regional Conference on Migration agreed during their second Conference in Panama to set forth a Plan of Action in order to advance toward a better administration of the migratory phenomenon. During subsequent meetings of the Conference, the Vice Ministers have the updated the Plan. This link leads to the full contents of the Plan of Action updated to the Maarch 2000 Washington meeting. It is presented through a color coded system that allows the viewer to follow up on completed activities as well as those that are continuous and those that are yet to take place.
Non-Governmental Organizations. Concurrent with the Regional Conference on Migration and the Regional Consultation Group on Migration, there is a meeting of NGO's. During each meeting, the NGO's have produced a communiqué that is presented to the Vice Ministers. Since the Ottawa meeting (february, 1998), the Vice Ministers reserve some time in their meetings for dialogue with NGO participants. This is a link to the documents presented by NGO's. On February 26 and 27, 1998, delegates from the governments of Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the United States of America gathered in Ottawa to discuss the issue of regional migration. Joint Communique of the IV Regional Conference on Migration. San Salvador, 1999. On February 28 and 29, 1999, delegates of the governements of Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the United States of America gathered in San Salvador to dicuss the issue of regional migration. This document is the official communiqué with the conclusions of said meeting. Note that this year they agreed to include the Dominican Republic in the group.

On March 23 and 24, 2000, delegates of the governements of Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, domincan Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the United States of America gathered in Washington to dicuss the issue of regional migration. A report on the human rights of migrants in situations of arrest, detention, deportation, and deception in member countries of the Regional Network of Civil Organizations for Migration (RNCOM).
